関節リウマチを中心として関節の病気全般にわたって診療しております。

関節リウマチは薬による治療だけでよいと考えているかもしれませんが、長期にわたる治療が必要であることが多く、包括的治療（トータルマネージメント）と言って、日常生活における注意や、病気に対する理解とか、それに対処するための考え方や方法などの教育、手術、リハビリテーションなど、治療をするに当たっては総合的なことが必要になります。

関節リウマチは一昔前までは不治の病と言われてきましたが、早期から治療を開始して骨破壊を最小限に抑えるようにしますと、治ることもあるということが夢ではなくなってきました。
そのためには、生物学的製剤を使用することもあります。関節リウマチというのは、関節をはじめとする運動器を主として冒す病気でありますので、進行してしまった関節に関しては、それ以上進行しないように適切なリハビリテーションの指導をしたりしてQOLを維持するようにします。
また、手術が必要になった際にはそれぞれの関節の専門の医師と密接に連携をとりながら治療を行います。

このように、関節リウマチの治療には総合的な知識と技術が必要でありますが、内科的合併症が生じた場合には、当科では内科医と緊密な連携を保って治療を行っております。
また症状が落ち着いている患者様については、近隣の医療機関と連携をとって，当科と近隣の医療機関で二人の主治医制度での治療を推進しております。

進行してしまった関節リウマチの方でも、手の変形や外反母趾などの足の機能障害についても、装具やリハビリ、手術治療を行っておりますので、リウマチ外来までご相談ください。
